How do I become an ACRES volunteer?

Simply visit the Volunteer With Us! and find out more about our volunteer team and sign up according to your interests!

How old do I have to be to volunteer with ACRES?

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer for Wildlife Sanctuary (upon registration). Working for wild animals involves discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. In addition, cleaning and managing the enclosures with the animals requires strength and focus, thereby reducing environmental stress for the animal without compromising your safety too.

Likewise, for the Wildlife Rescue programme, you must be at least 21 years old (upon registration) to respond in potentially critical situations and stressful conditions involving wild animal/s and humans.

To participate in the Outreach programme you must be at least 13 years old.

What kinds of things can I help with?

The Wildlife Rescue programme requires a full day theory training that is held every two months on Saturday, 10.00am to 5.00pm. Registration fee is SGD50 and your attendance is confirmed only upon payment.

Outreach volunteer training programme is half a day from 10.00am to 1.00pm on a weekend.

Can I help with more than one area of work?

Yes, you can sign up to help with as many different volunteer jobs as you like.

Can I get VIA points for volunteering with ACRES?

From March to June 2025, ACRES will not be offering or issuing Values-In-Action projects or points. Project-based and VIA volunteering will resume in July 2025 (school term 3) onwards. Subsequently, you may download and print this form, then hand the form to us when you arrive for your shift so we may acknowledge your VIA hours (not applicable for Wildlife Rescue).

Can I help with looking after the rescued animals at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre?

Yes. The Wildlife Sanctuary programme involves daily care for animals housed at ACRES where you must be at least 18 years to volunteer.

Do I have to commit to volunteering on a regular basis? How much time do I need to give?

The staff in charge of each volunteer team will contact you directly to discuss about the duration of volunteering and your level of commitment. However, please be aware that for Wildlife rescue long-term commitment (1-2 shifts a month) is required to keep up to date with protocols and changes in SOP. The Wildlife Sanctuary and Outreach programmes require a commitment of at least 1 volunteering shift per month for a period of 6 months.

How will I know if there are upcoming events, such as roadshows, for which you need volunteers?

Updates will be published via WhatsApp group chats which you will be added into the respective volunteer team/s after your registration. You may alternatively check our Events page.
