A Better Chance For Recovery and Survival
The ACRES Wildlife Sanctuary is a living testament to ACREs’ mission, to provide rescued wild animals with a second chance in a space that respects their instincts and needs. The sanctuary includes dedicated enclosures, animal care facilities, and a small team of passionate staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to rehabilitate and protect native and trafficked wildlife.
In 2024, we were thrilled to receive the green light from the Singapore Land Authority to expand into an additional 1.5 hectares of previously unusable land—marking a major milestone in our journey. After years of soil contamination, new environmental assessments have confirmed the land’s suitability for responsible use.
There are over 130 animals in our care, and the number is growing.While many of these animals will be released back into the wild, some of them will have to stay with us for the rest of their lives. Our expanded sanctuary will have more space to replicate the natural environments of the animals staying with us, allowing them to have the freedom to move, explore and live out their lives with dignity and happiness.
Our Vision
Our hope for the sanctuary is both ambitious and deeply rooted in compassion. It includes species-specific enclosures for native mammals, birds, tortoises, and turtles, as well as flight cages for raptors, and spaces for animals like otters and pangolins.
These improvements will significantly increase our capacity to respond to wildlife emergencies, shorten rehabilitation time, and improve release outcomes. There are also plans for eco-tourism elements such as a mini campsite, walkways, and visitor waiting areas—all designed to foster learning, connection, and respect for wildlife.
As we expand, sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do. Rainwater harvesting, solar lighting, and thoughtful landscaping are just some of the features we’re integrating to make this a truly green sanctuary.
The Journey So Far
We still remember when this was land overgrown by jungle. Now, walking through it, you can see the walls going up and a home taking shape for the animals. All of this was made possible by the generosity of our donors and the hard work of the ACRES team and volunteers who have toiled to make this space, our Sanctuary.
