At ACRES, we’re a mission-driven team working towards a world where animals are treated with compassion and respect.

Before You Apply

Before applying for a position at ACRES, we encourage you to take a moment to understand our values and culture, and consider if they resonate with you.

Our vision is “A world where animals are treated with compassion and respect.”
We believe the most powerful way to create such a world is to be the change in how we treat animals, people, and one another.

This means extending compassion and respect not only to animals, but also to:

  • Our volunteers
  • Members of the public
  • Partners and stakeholders
  • And importantly, our own colleagues

At ACRES, we work alongside individuals who are deeply committed to speaking up for animals, supporting one another, and moving our mission forward together.

Living Our Values

Being the change also means aligning our daily lives with our mission. One of our key objectives is to educate people on lifestyle choices that do not involve animal abuse and are environmentally responsible. As such, we strive to embody these principles both professionally and personally.

What We Value in Our Team

We look for individuals who contribute positively to our culture and mission. Key qualities include:

About Our Work

ACRES is powered by a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect wildlife and advocate for change.

In essence:

  • We save lives both big and small
  • We provide care, rehabilitation, and sanctuary to animals in need
  • We share their stories to inspire awareness and action
  • We educate, with the hope that one day, our work will no longer be needed

Our Workplace

Our Wildlife Rescue Centre and office are located in the rustic surroundings of Sungei Tengah, one of the few remaining rural areas in Singapore. Surrounded by farms and nature, our environment serves as a daily reminder of the cause we serve.

The nearest MRT station is Choa Chu Kang, with a shuttle bus departing at 9:00am, allowing staff to begin work at 9:30am and end at 5:00pm (except for wildlife rescue roles, which may have different hours)

Our Commitment

At the heart of ACRES is a commitment to prevent animal suffering and promote compassion and responsible stewardship.

In line with our values:

  • Consumption of meat and seafood is not permitted on ACRES premises
  • This applies to staff, volunteers, and visitors, including when representing ACRES or using ACRES vehicles
  • All ACRES-sponsored events and staff gatherings serve a fully vegan menu

Through these practices, we aim to minimise harm, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and remain aligned with our mission.

Internship FAQs

Who can apply for an internship at ACRES?

We welcome students, fresh graduates, and individuals who are passionate about animal wildlife protection to apply for an internship with us.

You don’t need prior experience working with animals, what matters most is your genuine interest in supporting our mission and a willingness to learn.

Not necessarily! Our interns come from different fields of study.

Some internships benefit from backgrounds such as:

●      Environmental science or biology

●      Veterinary or animal-related studies

●      Communications, media, or marketing

●      Education or social sciences

But above all, we look for people who have a strong interest in wanting to make a difference for the animals.

We value interns who are responsible, eager to contribute, and comfortable working in dynamic, hands-on environments. Different roles may also benefit from skills such as writing, design, public speaking, research, or social media.

Some activities at ACRES can be physically demanding or involve outdoor work.

Wildlife Sanctuary internships may involve:

●      Cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures

●      Preparing food and supporting daily animal care

These tasks require stamina, discipline, and the ability to be on your feet for extended periods. Interns should be comfortable around animals and not have allergies to them.

Advocacy internships may involve:

●      Engaging with members of the public at events

●      Supporting educational tours and nature walks

These activities tend to involve being outdoors, interacting with the public, or working in hot weather conditions.

You must be at least 18 years old at the start of your internship.

Internships typically last between 1 and 6 months.

We ask for a minimum commitment of one month, but longer internships allow you to gain a more meaningful learning experience. Many interns also choose to continue volunteering with ACRES after their internship ends.

ACRES internships are full-time.

Interns are generally expected to work from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasionally, you may also help with:

●      Off-site activities

●      Weekend events

●      Public roadshows or educational programmes

These give interns a chance to learn about different aspects of ACRES’ work.

.

Yes, international applicants are welcome to apply!

However, ACRES does not provide accommodation for international interns or volunteers, so you will need to arrange your own housing, travel, and visa requirements.

ACRES internships are unpaid. Placements provide learning opportunities and hands-on experience in animal welfare and wildlife advocacy work.

Yes. ACRES practices a vegetarian policy on our premises, in line with our animal welfare values.
