Volunteers can choose to help with one or more of the following areas:

At the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC):

Wildlife Guardians Programme

Training programme fee: SGD$50.00 (with effect from 5th February 2012).

Assisting with animal care duties, e.g. cleaning enclosures and providing environmental enrichment. Assisting in daily operations and maintenance of the AWRC, e.g. gardening, giving guided tours to visitors.

Interested volunteers are required to attend a Wildlife Guardians training programme over the course of four weekends. Wildlife Guardians must be at least 16 years old, be vaccinated against Hepatitis A & B and tetanus.

Wildlife Rescue Team

Training programme fee: SGD$50.00 (with effect from 5th February 2012).

Volunteers aged over 21 years old can assist ACRES with our wildlife rescue operations, assisting us when we go to rescue native wild animals or abandoned exotic animals in need of help. The Wildlife Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

To volunteer with the Wildlife Rescue Team you will need to undergo a full day of training and also be fully vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B, rabies and tetanus. You are also required to commit to volunteering at least twice a month. The day shift begins at 9.30am and ends at 5pm. The night shift begins at 5pm to 6am following day.

Offsite/Events-based:

Roadshows

Assisting at ACRES roadshows with outreach, education and fundraising. Providing manpower and/or logistical support at ACRES events. Also helping with ACRES fundraising initiatives (e.g. placement and collection of donation tins etc.)

To volunteer with the Wildlife Rescue Team you will need to undergo a full day of training and also be fully vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B and tetanus. You are also required to commit to volunteering at least twice a month, including night shifts (6pm to 7am the next morning). You will need to commit to five/six- hour day shifts, from 7am to 12 noon or from 12 noon to 6pm.

Humane education

Delivering our educational programmes to schools – participating in skits, assisting in educational activities, talks, school visits to the AWRC etc.

Using specialist skills/professional expertise e.g. design, IT, legal, veterinary etc. Any skills which you wish to contribute to ACRES!

Projects: Group volunteers can propose their own project relating to animal welfare e.g. organising awareness events, producing educational materials (videos, animations etc.)
